THE WEBB SISTERS – OLD IDEAS WORLD TOUR

Charley and Hattie Webb are Kent born English singer-songwriters. Their sublime harmonies are accompanied by Charley’s acoustic guitar and Hattie’s harp and mandolin, giving life to both their own original compositions and their interpretations of songs such as Leonard Cohen’s “If It Be Your Will.”

Their debut release Daylight Crossing on Mercury Records, recorded with Steve Gadd, Pino Palladino and members of The Verve was named Single & Record of the Week on iTunes and UK’s Radio 2, while Charley & Hattie toured in the UK and in the US, performing with Jason Mraz, Jamie Cullum and James Morrison.

When Leonard Cohen first asked Charley & Hattie to join his world tour in 2008 they were working on their album Savages with their manager and producer, Peter Asher. “Baroque Thoughts,” from the album, went on to win the International Music Award for Best Contemporary Song.

In 2009 Sting invited the sisters to sing with him on his album If On A Winter’s Night… including the single “Soul Cake.” Then 2010 and 2011 saw the sisters tour their own music in the US and Canada, including performing with Rufus Wainwright. Additionally they collaborated on projects with fellow harmony siblings The Avett Brothers and on Natalie Maines’ version of “God Only Knows” produced by Rick Rubin.

In celebration of the music of Leonard Cohen, The Webb Sisters performed with Javier Mas, Glen Hansard and friends in October 2011 at The Prince of Asturias Awards in Spain.

Then in 2011 and early 2012 The Webb Sisters headlined their own sold out tours throughout the UK and Europe, performed with Australian artist Gotye and also toured with Richard Thompson in the US. Charley & Hattie are currently recording new material with Peter Asher and are thrilled to be singing with Leonard and the band again.
